“Use AI to Read the Chart”
🖼️ Step 1: Describe a Chart to AI
Use these prompts when you’re looking at a chart on TradingView, Yahoo Finance, etc.
Prompt A – Chart Description (You describe the chart to ChatGPT)
“Here’s what I’m seeing on a stock:
- Price is forming higher lows
- It’s pressing against a resistance level
- Volume is increasing
- RSI is around 65
Can you break this down for me? What does this setup suggest, and what should I watch for?”
Prompt B – Breakdown Builder (You tell ChatGPT to do it for you by pasting a chart of your liking, example of AAPL below. Grab a full screen view from trading view and any indicators you’d like ChatGPT to look into)
“Summarize this chart setup using:
- Trend
- Momentum
- Key levels
- Possible entry and stop
- Risk/reward bias”
Prompt C – Post a chart into ChatGPT with a little explanation
“This stock just had a 50/200 MA golden cross. RSI is climbing, and MACD just flipped positive. What does this tell me? Would this be a setup worth watching?”
🔍 Step 2: Ask Follow-Ups
Try these:
- “Is this a bullish or bearish setup?”
- “What kind of trader would benefit from this (swing, day, long-term)?”
- “Where would a smart trader put their stop?”
- “Is this trade too risky based on what you see?”
📓 Step 3: Log What You Learned
Use your journal to track:
- Chart setup
- What AI explained
- What you learned
- Confidence level (1–10)
- If you’d take the trade or pass
- Day 3 Action Items
- Open a chart in TradingView or Yahoo Finance
- Describe the setup using Prompt A
- Ask ChatGPT to break it down for you
- Use Prompt B for even more clarity
- Log 1–2 setups and AI breakdowns in your journal
- Rate your confidence (1–10) — did you understand the reasoning?
